The following Flood Alert Update was received from the Environment Agency at 0836 on 7th December 2021 for Southampton Water and Hamble. The total forecast tide height has been increased and is now 5.26m:
“Flooding is possible for: Coast around Southampton Water including Calshot, Lepe and the Hamble Estuary. Be prepared.
“Tuesday afternoon’s tide at 12:41 and 14:34 on 07/12/2021 is higher than normal due to Storm Barra, which brings strong South Easterly Force 7 winds. The forecast tide level has increased since yesterday. The weather will increase tide table values by 0.54 m. The total forecast tide is now 5.26 metres Chart Datum (2.52 mAOD) at Southampton. For 1 hour either side of high water, flooding will affect; the lower floor of Eling Tide Mill and Eling Lane. Road and car park flooding will occur at Ashlett Creek (Fawley), Woodmill Lane, the Quay and Ropewalk (Hamble), Rising Sun Pub (Warsash), Magazine Lane (Marchwood), Promenade and Shore Road (Hythe). Water will come close to property nearest the estuary at Testwood and will affect boat yards at Bursledon. At 01:18 and 03:18 on 08/12/2021‚ the tide will be slightly lower, but will still cause similar minor impact flooding. We’ll issue further advice. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid parking in low lying coastal car parks and plan driving routes to avoid the roads listed above. We will update this message by 19:00 on 07/12/2021.“
