Flood Alert: 14th November 2020

The following Flood Alert was issued by the Environment Agency at 1551 on 13th November 2020. The total forecast tide height is 5.24m:

Flooding is possible for: Coast around Southampton Water including Calshot, Lepe and the Hamble Estuary. Be prepared.

Saturday morning’s tide at 09:44 on 14/11/20 and 11:46 on 14/11/20 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong Southerly Force 5 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.28 m. The total forecast tide is 5.24 metres Chart Datum (2.50 mAOD) at Southampton. For 1 hour either side of high water, minor impact flooding will affect; the lower floor of Eling Tide Mill and Eling Lane, roads and car parks at Ashlett Creek (Fawley), Woodmill Lane, the Quay and Ropewalk (Hamble), Rising Sun Pub (Warsash), Magazine Lane (Marchwood), Promenade and Shore Road (Hythe). Water will be close to property nearest the estuary at Testwood and affect boat yards at Bursledon. At 10:26 on Sunday (15/11/20), the tide may be slightly higher, with similar minor impacts expected. We will issue further advice. We continue to monitor the forecast. Avoid parking in low lying coastal car parks and avoid driving on roads listed above. We will update this message by 16:00 on 14/11/20.
