Flood Alert: 21st August 2020

The following Flood Alert was issued by the Environment Agency at 1751 on 20th August 2020. The total forecast tide height is 5.14m:

Flooding is possible for: Coast around Southampton Water including Calshot, Lepe and the Hamble Estuary. Be prepared.

Friday afternoon’s tide at 13:18 on 21/08/2020 and 15:33 on 21/08/2020 is higher than normal due to unsettled weather with strong South Westerly Force 7 winds. The weather increases tide table values by 0.34 m (surge). The forecast tide is 5.14 metres Chart Datum (2.40 mAOD) at Southampton. For 1 hour either side of high water, minor impact flooding will affect the lower floor level of Eling Tide Mill and boat yards at Bursledon. Car park and road flooding may occur at the Quay (Hamble), Rising Sun Pub (Warsash) Magazine Lane (Marchwood) Shore Road and Promenade (Hythe). After this tide‚ the weather becomes more settled and no further impacts are expected. We continue to monitor the forecast. Please avoid walking or driving through flood water during the high tide period.
